Corrections: the public record

Changes should leave a trail.

Material corrections are recorded here with their previous and current interpretation. A changed counting convention is explained, rather than silently presented as a new goal or trophy. Newly verified source fields are additions to evidence, not automatic corrections to unknown historical data.

This log began on 2026-10-31. Earlier documented corrections below retain their actual correction dates; this is not a claim that every historical edit was logged at the time.

Head-to-head scores now follow the represented team

Previously

The first listed team score was always added to Messi and the second to Ronaldo, even when their teams appeared in the opposite order. Riyadh XI was also grouped with national-team friendlies.

Now

Each match stores explicit home/away numeric scores and each player’s actual represented team. All views use the same filtered records. The club exhibition is opt-in and never becomes a national-team match.

Reason / effect

For the 2011/2014 national friendlies and 2023 Riyadh exhibition, the correct team-goal totals are7–6 when the exhibition is included; the two national matches alone are2–2. Career individual goal rows are unchanged. The selected list remains labelled as incomplete and partly awaiting independent source review.
